LoDo Real Estate

For those who want to be where the action is, LoDo real estate is the right choice. Fans of “The Real World” will gladly tell you that LoDo hosted the 2006 season of the popular hit reality show. LoDo (short for Lower Downtown Denver) is one of the best-known and loved neighborhoods in Denver. Known for its shopping and nightlife, LoDo serves as Denver's destination of choice for trendsetters and partygoers. LoDo property owners enjoy the vibrant pulse of Denver with a wide array of activities to choose from. Enjoy a nice glass of wine in any one of its many outstanding bars, dine with friends at the hippest restaurants, or Dance the night away at some of LoDo's most happening clubs.

“LoDo” is a term affectionately used by both visitors and residents to describe the area that defines the historic district. Bordered by Speer Boulevard (in Cherry Creek), 20th Street, Larimer Street and Wynkoop Street, LoDo can also be said to include the Platte River and Interstate 25 in the northwest, southeast to Lawrence Street. LoDo Denver real estate is teeming with fashionable lofts and town homes that are popular with the younger crowd.

A favorite tourist destination, LoDo is home to some 30 art galleries, 90 restaurants, clubs, shops, cafes and countless other entertainment venues. Whatever you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it in LoDo.

LoDo History

To get a better appreciation of LoDo, one must know its origins. Packed into 20 city blocks is virtually all of Denver's history and more. After gold was discovered in the South Platte River in 1858, General William Larimer founded Denver using cottonwood logs to outline the center of a plot measuring one square mile – essentially what's now known as the LoDo neighborhood. This makes LoDo both the center of the original City of Denver and the city’s oldest neighborhood. Even in its early days, LoDo was a busy district, hosting some of Denver's best known saloons. As the years progressed, so did LoDo, which is today one of Denver’s hottest places to be.

LoDo Lofts

In 1988, the city of Denver designated LoDo as a historic district, keeping the neighborhood from becoming part of the Central Business District. Thanks to this declaration, LoDo has since found new importance as a part of Denver's history by retaining its historic buildings and protecting them from being demolished to build newer structures. Since this time, new businesses have sprouted and thrived. The popularity of LoDo’s trendy restaurants, clubs, art galleries, shops and cafes, as well as the opening of the Pepsi Center in south LoDo reflect LoDo’s positive growth. The value of LoDo real estate has grown as well, making property in LoDo an excellent opportunity for investment or for everyday living.

LoDo’s newfound popularity has increased with the introduction of new developments. Turning old warehouses into profitable new lofts has become a hot trend in the real estate industry, making LoDo an exciting opportunity for buyers and investors alike.

LoDo's reputation as Denver's center for activity has made the district particularly attractive for real estate investments. Whether you’re in search of such an investment, or simply want to experience the allure of LoDo lofts and townhomes, you’ll need a local LoDo realtor to guide you through it.
